Ergonomics, Neck Pain and Progressive Lenses

Dec 23 - 14 | Progressive / invisible bifocal lenses are a great solution for most of us over 45.  They offer great functionality and can cover a wide range of needs.  However, the set-up of your computer does impact greatly upon the success and comfort of these lenses (and your neck!)  Ideally the top of your computer monitor should be at your eye level (i.e. the entire monitor should be below your eye level when seated at your desk.)  Also, the monitor should be placed straight ahead of you and the keyboard and not off-to-the-side.  These tips should help the performance of your glasses and neck pain.  If your prescription is up-to-date and ergonomics are perfect but vision/comfort is not right (or you use multiple monitors)... it is probably best that you have a separate set of glasses for your office environment.  Lastly - laptops and tablets are not usually a problem because they are lower, closer, lined up to the reading areas of progressive lenses - something you may want to consider if you are shopping for a last minute gift this holiday season!   dr.j
