May 11 - 15 | The same thing that makes bluish car headlights better for drivers also makes them worse for oncoming traffic. So many of my patients in the 60+ club complain about these specific headlights... Why? As you may remember from high school science... when all of the colours of the rainbow are mixed together... they produce white light. Each mixed colour (wavelength) is a different energy level and blue light has high energy. So a blueish headlight (Zenon) helps a driver see better because its higher energy penetrates better through the night. However, when that blueish, high energy light enters the eyes of oncoming drivers, it tends to scatter more causing more glare and trouble than standard headlights... especially for those with early cataracts. dr.j You can continue the story by visiting us.
