Aug 17 - 2015 | You have seen the late night commercials... "see better and farther than ever before with these $29 yellow lenses" Do these lenses actually work?... Kind of. Recall that white light is the sum of all the colours of the rainbow. Yellow tinted lenses are yellow because they remove the blue light (short wave length). This blue light tends to scatter and cause more glare in the eye. When blue light is blocked from entering the eye, images appear sharper for those having issues with scatter. And what causes scatter?... lens issues (cataracts), eye surface issues (cornea) and other issues (vitreous). So... if yellow filtered lenses improve your vision... you should probably have an eye exam because there is a reason! dr.j Studioeyecare.com PS - Almost every patient that I have ever spoken to that has tried these lenses may like the vision but can not stand the dramatic colour perception shift and wear is generally limited to night driving.
