Mar 12 - 15 | Cataract surgery is a life changing experience for most folks. Not only is the cloudiness of the cataract removed but the implanted replacement lens often corrects much of the nearsightedness/farsightedness that patients have dealt with for perhaps a lifetime. (see previous post for more info on enhancing this) For those living through cataract procedures... the most frustrating part of cataract surgery often seems to be the time between right and left eye surgery. Because of the often dramatic change in prescription with surgery, if you are waiting for your second eye surgery it is normal to feel lopsided or dizzy. Glasses on - glasses off - it is definitely a frustrating time as nothing seems to be perfect. Getting new glasses soon after surgery is not advised so the frustration continues. A tip to help... if you have a strong eyeglass prescription... talk to your surgeon about scheduling surgeries as close together as possible. There are a few surgeons that will do same day - both eyes - surgery but this is not the norm. In this area, it is typical to have right and left eyes done approximately one-to-three months apart (if medically indicated for both). So if you have a strong prescription, try and not plan a trip during the frustrating "in between" time. dr.j StudioEyeCare.com
